Facilities

Since 2004, it has been producing radiopharmaceuticals for PET/CT tests in its state-of-the-art facilities, which are seen as a reference point by the European Community of radiopharmaceuticals and are frequently visited by researchers, trainees and students for the purposes of their post-graduate studies.

In 2011, the company upgraded its facilities, thus increasing the range of the radiopharmaceuticals it can manufacture and the volume of productions on a daily basis.

The main features of the technological investments realized by BIOKOSMOS since 2000 are as follows:

  • Areas of 1400m, 2 where radiopharmaceuticals are manufactured, prepared and controlled for their quality.
An additional 600m2 of auxiliary facilities.
  • Two (2) cyclotrons for the production of medical radioisotopes.
  • Eight (8) synthesis modules for the production of PET radiopharmaceuticals
For continuous production around the clock
  • Four (4) dispensing modules for the final product
in multi-dose vials, allowing to serve different customers per stage of production.
  • Twelve (12) shielded cells of high pharmaceutical cleanliness levels
which enable the preservation of the sterility of the final product
  • Two (2) fully equipped quality control laboratories for radiopharmaceuticals,
where it is certified whether the specifications of the final pharmaceutical product meet the requirements of the European Pharmacopoeia.
  • Indoor electricity sub-stations
equipped with automatic selector (change-over switch)
  • Continuous power supply
More than 400 kVA UPS support with automatic startup of relative power generators
  • BMS systems that has been specifically developed for the company For continuous control of the temperature, humidity and pressures in the production areas
  • Maintenance personnel
Consisting, per branch, of one (1) service technician and one (1) technical operator assisting each other
  • Graded access control system
An access control system for the entirety of the facilities, which are guarded by full-time security personnel on a 24-hour basis.
  • Infrastructure maintenance agreement
including spare-parts and a maximum of 2 hoursfor breakdown repairs
